     Fish needs fresh water to survive. At the places water is not polluted we can find much fish in the river water. At the places where water is polluted, we find a few or dead fish in the river water.

What can be seen in the river before it reaches the village?

     We can see a large number of fish in the river before it reaches the village.

     The colour of the water in the river changes near the villages and the towns.  The change in the colour of the water is due to pollution.

     I would like to live in places where water is not polluted in order to live a healthy life.

     Yes, there would be changes taking place in a river, pond, or stream at different times of the year. During the rainy season, the water level increases and during the summer season the water level decreases.

     No, the level of water in the rainy season is more than the level of water in the summer.

     Yes, there is a lake in my city.

What happens when there is a flood?

     The roads and railway tracks flooded with water, even the houses in low-lying areas are flooded with water.

Have you seen dirty water in a river or pond? Where?

     Yes, I have seen dirty water in a river and pond also.

How would you know if the water is dirty? If the water looks clean, can you be sure that it is alright to drink that water? Discuss.

     We can know the water is dirty by its colour and the smell. Even if the water looks clean, we cannot be sure the water is drinkable. Clean water also contains many germs which cannot be seen with our naked eyes.
